Exploring Worlds: An Introduction

Welcome to My Blog!

Over the past ten years, I have tried to create a few blogs that failed only after a few weeks. I couldn’t hold my focus on them while letting the rest of life get in the way of creating something just for me. In those past attempts, I worried too much about other people, which doomed those blogs from the start. I found myself in a dangerous cycle of:

Starting something new, creative, and exciting

Then loosing focus and attention

Attempting to come back to it a few times

Then finally letting it die all together

I’m sure that many of us have gone through this unfortunate experience of building up a creative graveyard. At some point in time this will stop, but only if I truly work at it. It takes planning, persistence, and a bit something that holds us accountable to not abandon projects. This time, I hope to break the cycle of creative destruction and let it grow into a beautiful garden for myself. Now onto my hopes for this blog beyond the vague metaphors.

Hopes for this Blog

Over the past few years, since the start of the pandemic, I have felt drawn toward better understanding a world that has felt elusive since high school – science. In this universe where we have more questions than answers (or at least some of us have more questions than answers), I want to explore more of what this world has to offer. In asking questions, we continue to grow and learn. So, I dedicate this blog to asking questions and exploring more in science, but also beyond that too. If my curious nature gets the best of me, there might be more exploration of other worlds in art, music, movies, hobbies, travel, books, and other human beings... the world is our oyster to explore if we only step out of our bubbles.

More about Myself

Before any of this begins, I need to say that I do not have a background in science like other science communicators have. Below is the list of my specific qualifications for this blog:

- Education and experience in communication and film production

- Years of training in music and theatrical performance

- Lots of different types of office work – filing, organizing, planning, etc

- Opportunities that have allowed me to travel around the world

And finally:

- An insatiable curiosity and a growing desire to share that curiosity with everyone.

As a filmmaker and storyteller, everything starts with writing - even documentaries, music videos, commercials, you name it. This blog will be a further way to explore new worlds and the stories that they hold.

To Wrap Up - Not a Science Expert

So please remember, I am not a science expert as I explore the numerous questions I have about the worlds of science and beyond. I recognize good story and interesting bits of information in research. This is a quest to explore and navigate worlds outside of those I personally have training in. Anything I find that involves further reading or videos, I will link for those to use in their own journeys.

So as I take the 'road less traveled' for me and explore new areas, I hope to learn more about the universe that we live in. Perhaps, if we are lucky, we can all learn and grow together.
